Dale McDowell Grabs Third Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Victory at Smoky Mountain Speedway

McDowell is sponsored by E-Z-GO, Kinzer Drilling Company, Quality Natural Gas, Cometic Gaskets and New Era Industrial-sponsored entry. McDowell drove the Shane McDowell Racing, Clements Racing Engines-powered Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car to the win.

McDowell led the race until lap-18 when Brandon Overton would pass him for the lead but the caution came out (lap-17) moving McDowell back to the front on the restart because a complete lap hadn’t been made. McDowell led the remaining distance for his third victory of the season and continues to lead the series point standings.

Three cautions slowed the event, all within the first 21 laps of the 50-lap main event. The first caution came on lap six as Ryan Crane slowed with a right-rear flat tire. Chicky Barton slowed on lap-17 and the final yellow came on lap-21 when Colton Horner came to a stop.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels returns to action on Friday April 19th at Blue Ridge Motorsports Park in Blue Ridge, Ga. racing 40 laps for $4,000-to-win then Saturday April 20th at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Ga. racing for $10,000-to-win.
