McIntosh drove the Blount Excavating, Ole Ben Franklin Motors,
Stower’s CAT, Massey Electric and Food City-sponsored Vic
Hill Racing Engines-powered Rocket Chassis to the $5,000 event
Polesitter Donald McIntosh and overall fast time driver Ricky
Weiss brought the field down to the green flag and the 50-lapper
was underway with McIntosh grabbing the point early on. McIntosh
was never really challenged for the lead but great battles during
the main event for second between eventual runner-up Casey Roberts,
Tanner English and Ricky Weiss while running second before he
brought out the caution on the 27th circuit. McIntosh would go
on for the payday while Casey Roberts finished second, first-timer
to Rome Speedway Tanner English finished third, series points
leader Dale McDowell was fourth and Ricky Weiss rallied from the
tail to finish fifth.
Four cautions slowed the main event. The first caution flew on
lap-21 as Matt Dooley slowed in turn four. The next yellow flag
came out on lap-27 as Ricky Weiss slowed on the backstretch while
running second. The third yellow flag came out on lap-36 as Jason
Croft slowed in turn four with a right-rear flat tire. The final
caution would be on lap-40 as Forrest Trent came to a stop at
the top of turn two.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by
