Former
Spring Nationals Champion Donald McIntosh Collects $10,053 for
Winning Dixie Nationals
(October
11, 2025) The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented
by Franklin Enterprises and the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals
Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing co-sanctioned the Dixie
Nationals on Saturday night at Dixie Speedway and it was Donald
McIntosh that emerged victorious to collect the $10,053 winner’s
check! Donald, who is a three-time Spring Nationals Champion,
swept the night’s racing action at the historic Woodstock,
Georgia facility. After clicking off the fastest lap in MRP Fantasy
Racing Hot Laps, Donald set a New Track Record during the qualifying
session with his lightning quick time of 13.397 seconds.
The Dawsonville, Georgia ace, who is currently leading the Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rookie of the Year chase, then won
his heat race before leading all 53 circuits in the Dixie Nationals
from the outside of the front row. He survived a late-race scrape
with Garrett Smith on lap 37, which sent Smith spinning from contention
exiting turn two. From there, Donald ran virtually unchallenged
in capturing the five-figure payday by 1.738 seconds over runner-up
Payton Stevenson, who was making only his fourth career Super
Late Model start. Tyler Millwood, Todd Morrow, and Devon Morgan
rounded out the podium at the Atlanta-area venue.
“Honestly, the race car was a lot better than I was tonight,”
quoted McIntosh in Dixie Speedway victory lane. “I jumped
the cushion down there (in turn two) and unfortunately got into
Garrett (Smith) trying to get back down into the racetrack, so
sorry to him. I was just trying too hard and got a little over
my head and then over the cushion, but I had a really good car.
I’ve got to thank everyone that is associated with our Billy
Hicks Racing team!”
Donald McIntosh’s #79 Longhorn Chassis was powered by a
McIntosh-built Buick engine with sponsorship in part from Hicks
Racing, H&H Auto Sales, Hicks Motors, Coltman Farms Racing,
Al Belt Custom Homes, Principal - Rick Havenridge, Gambler Performance,
Bilstein Shocks, and Collins Signs.
There were 33 Super Late Model entrants on hand at Dixie Speedway
on a night which saw 144 total cars in the pit area. Donald McIntosh
laid down the fastest time in both hot laps and qualifying before
securing a heat race win along with Dale McDowell, Payton Stevenson,
and RC Whitwell. The pair of B-Mains were topped by David Payne
and Josh Henry, while provisionals went to Michael Luna and Will
Hicks. A total of six caution flags slowed the pace during the
53-lap headliner.
While the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series is now
done for the 2025 season, there is one single event left on the
Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series presented by Franklin Enterprises
schedule. On Saturday night, October 25, the SAS tour will roll
into I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee to preside over the
annual running of the Tarheel 53. Another $10,053 top prize will
be on the line and a Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series Champion
will be crowned. Ronnie Johnson still finds himself atop of the
tour point standings, but with dropped races now in effect, his
lead heading into I-75 Raceway has shrunk significantly. More
information on this race will be released soon at www.i-75racewaypark.com.
