Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series Releases 2012 Schedule of Events!

(December 6, 2011) The eighth year of the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals tour is more than seven months away, but series promoter Ray Cook released the working 2012 schedule earlier today. Most of the schedule remains in tact from the successful 2011 season, which saw Chris Madden pick up three victories en route to his third series point title. The only new track at this point will be the first-ever series visit to the historic Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Tuesday night, July 17.

A total of six Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series races will pay $5,300 to win in 2012, while the remaining four shows will provide $3,500 to the winner. There is one date that is currently To Be Announced, as the Thursday, July 26 event, normally reserved for the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee, is still in flux due to the track's uncertainty. As soon as the date is filled, you can find out first online at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com or on Twitter @SoNationals.

"I think we have put a nice schedule together for the racers and fans in 2012," stated Cook earlier today. "With scheduling a race at Smoky Mountain instead of going to the Carolinas, it should be closer mileage-wise for most everyone and save some teams some money at the fuel pump. We are just going to wait and see what goes on at Cleveland for our TBA date, but I have a couple of backup plans in place if Cleveland can't host the date on July 26." [more]
