Steve Casebolt Crowned 2013
Spring Nationals Champion Following Boyd's Postponement!
(May
17, 2013) The final points race of the inaugural 2013
Spring Nationals tour took place tonight at the Boyd's Speedway
in Ringgold, Georgia. Sprinkles and light rain fell throughout
the afternoon hours at the Chattanooga area facility, but a window
of favorable weather allowed the thirty (30) cars in attendance
to hot lap and qualify. Billy Ogle, Jr. laid down the quickest
lap overall and in Group A during time trials at a 13.368, while
Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. paced Group B with a lap of 13.451. Unfortunately,
as the B-Mains were lining up, another rain shower fell over the
oval and continued rain throughout the evening prompted a postponement
of the $4,000 to win event.
A make-up date of Friday, May 24 has been established and the
show will start from scratch, which will allow any new entrants
next week. After polling the series regulars, the majority chose
to make tonight the final points race of the season, which means
that next Friday's duel will be non-points. All drivers in attendance
tonight received an equal 50 show-up points. Following eight completed
points events and two rain-outs, Steve Casebolt, of Richmond,
Indiana, is the 2013 Spring Nationals Champion followed by Billy
Ogle, Jr., David Payne, Stacy Boles, and Michael Chilton to round
