28, 2013) William Thomas picked up his second career
Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series victory tonight in a rain-postponed
event at the historic Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia! After starting
third on the grid in the 53-lap main event, William found his
way to the front of the field with less than twenty laps remaining.
The Phenix City, Alabama hotshoe then took the checkered flag
ahead of Vic Hill, Ivedent Lloyd, Jr., Jason Hiett, and Dennis
Franklin to record the $5,300 victory. The event tonight at Rome

Nationals Series Championship with Taz Win!
27, 2013) "Superman" Jonathan Davenport secured
his second Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series Championship
tonight by dominating the final points race of 2013 at the bad-fast
Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee! Jonathan pulled off
a clean sweep of the night's festivities at "The Taz,"
as he set fast time in FK Rod Ends qualifying, won the PRC Dash,
and later led all 53 circuits of the main event. The Blairsville,
Georgia star took home the $5,300 payday by besting Billy Ogle,
Jr., Vic Hill, Chris Madden, and Bryan Hendrix. Jonathan also
captured another $5,353 for winning the series Championship over
Billy Ogle, Jr., Chris Madden, Vic Hill, and Eric Jacobsen!
Chris Madden Gets Redemption with Southern
Nationals Triumph at Smoky Mountain!
26, 2013) Chris Madden, of Gray Court, South Carolina,
got a bit of redemption from last night at Duck River by capturing
the $5,300 top prize tonight in front of a huge crowd at the Smoky
Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee! Chris timed in eighth
fastest during the FK Rod Ends qualifying session and later took
the win in his B-Main. After starting from the outside of the
third row in the 53-lap main event, Chris swept past leader Jonathan
Davenport on lap 40 to grab the point. The four-time Schaeffer
Oil Southern Nationals Series Champion then led the remainder
of the distance to record his 23rd series win over Davenport,
Billy Ogle, Jr., Skip Arp, and Eric Jacobsen.
Eric Jacobsen Comes Out on Top of a Southern
Nationals Thriller at Duck River Raceway Park!
25, 2013) Eric Jacobsen became a first-time winner on
the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series tour in thrilling
fashion tonight at the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee!
Eric, who qualified eleventh fastest in FK Rod Ends time trials
and finished third in his consolation race, started from the inside
of the fifth row in the 35-lapper. The Rio Del Mar, California
ace was headed towards an apparent third place finish on the last
lap of the feature when leaders Chris Madden and Billy Ogle, Jr.
tangled on the final corner. Eric stayed hard in the throttle
- through the carnage - to pick up the $3,500 paycheck ahead of
Ogle, Jr., series point leader Jonathan Davenport, Josh Putnam,
and seventeenth starting David Earl Gentry!

24, 2013) After completing five events, the final four
events of the 2013 version of the Ray Cook-promoted Schaeffer’s
Oil Southern Nationals will be four straight on an ultra-busy
weekend with over $82,300 in prize money up for grabs in just
On Thursday Night July 25th the series heads to Duck River Raceway
Park in Wheel, TN for a 35-lap $3,500 to win / $450 to start event
with over $16,705 in prize money for Thursday’s event. On
Friday Night July 26th the Southern Nationals will make the second-ever
appearance to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN for a 53-lap
$5,300 to win event. On Saturday Night, the 2013 points will end
for the 9th straight time at Gary Hall’s Tazewell Speedway
in Tazewell, TN. This event pays $5,300 to win and a total feature
purse of over $21,880. The series will then roll back to Rome

First Career Southern Nationals Victory!
23, 2013) Aaron Ridley, of Chatsworth, Georgia, nabbed
his first career Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series victory
tonight at his hometown North Georgia Speedway! After timing in
fourth quickest during the FK Rod Ends qualifying session, Aaron
took the win in the PRC Dash to earn the pole position for the
35-lap main event. Aaron then paced the field from start to finish
to capture the $3,500 payday over Billy Ogle, Jr., Eric Jacobsen,
Chris Madden, and William Thomas. Point leader Jonathan Davenport
won his consolation race prior to slipping to seventh in the final

Program at Rome Speedway Postponed by Rain
21, 2013) For the second consecutive evening, Mother
Nature has taken the win in a Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals
Series event. A stellar field of 31 competitors were on the grounds
tonight at the historic Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia when heavy
rain showers hit the facility during the middle of qualifying.
Jason Croft, Jonathan Davenport, Shane Clanton, and Jason Hiett
had the top four fastest times of those that had qualified when
the inclement weather struck.
The $5,300 to win program at Rome has been rescheduled for next
Sunday, July 28, but the event will not carry any points. The
2013 version of the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series will
still crown a Champion on Saturday, July 27 at the bad-fast Tazewell
Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee. Series and track officials have
deemed that the return trip to Rome will start from scratch and

Motor Speedway Succumbs to Inclement Weather; Visit to Rome Next!
20, 2013) At approximately 6:00 p.m., officials from
both the Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series and Screven Motor
Speedway were forced to make the decision to cancel tonight's
annual running of the 'Rebel Yell' at the Sylvania, Georgia speedplant.
Upwards of thirty competitors were already in the pit area for
the $5,300 to win program, which was set to be the fifth event
of the ten race Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals miniseries. Rain
started falling a little before 5:30 p.m. and after a 30 minute
shower and more wet weather on the way, the decision was made

19, 2013) Jonathan Davenport went back-to-back in Schaeffer
Oil Southern Nationals competition tonight at the Swainsboro Raceway
in Swainsboro, Georgia, as he took the lead late in the main event
to pocket the $5,300 top prize. Fast qualifier Ivedent Lloyd,
Jr. led the majority of the first forty circuits in the A-Main,
but Jonathan was able to work his way by Lloyd's #21 machine on
lap 41 to grab the point. The Blairsville, Georgia ace then led
the remainder of the 53-lapper to score his seventh career Southern

18, 2013) The cars and stars of the Schaeffer Oil Southern
Nationals Series rolled into the East Alabama Motor Speedway in
Phenix City, Alabama tonight for round three of the ten-race miniseries.
Jonathan Davenport, of Blairsville, Georgia, took home the $3,500
payday tonight in an exciting event at EAMS. After leading the
first three circuits from the pole position, Jonathan gave way
to Billy Ogle, Jr. on lap four and trailed the #201 up until lap
33. The popular driver known as "Superman" was able
to regain the top spot in turn one with only three laps remaining
and went on to capture his sixth career Southern Nationals victory.
Behind Davenport's AES Racing ride was Ogle, Jr., Chris Madden,
William Thomas, and Jason Hiett.
Vic Hill Handles Southern Nationals Field
at Volunteer Speedway for $3,500 Victory!
16, 2013) Vic Hill, of Mosheim, Tennessee, laid claim
to his fourth career Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series victory
tonight at the nearby Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee!
Vic laid down the fourth fastest lap during FK Rod Ends time trials
and later took the victory in the Performance Rod & Custom
Dash. After starting the 35-lap feature event from the pole position,
Vic grabbed the top spot at the drop of the green flag and held
the point throughout the distance. The driver known as "The
Thrill" picked up the $3,500 paycheck for holding off a valiant
last-lap charge by Chris Madden to win by a mere 0.343 seconds.
Rounding out the top five were Jonathan Davenport in third, Billy
Ogle, Jr. in fourth, and Josh Henry in fifth.

15, 2013) Four-time Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals
Series Champion Chris Madden started off the 2013 tour with a
bang tonight at the picturesque Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat,
Virginia! Chris timed in second quickest in FK Rod Ends qualifying
and later scored the win in the Performance Rod & Custom Dash,
which earned him an extra $200 and the pole position for the feature.
The Gray Court, South Carolina star then paced the field from
green to checkers in the 35-lapper to score the $3,500 triumph
over Jonathan Davenport, Billy Ogle, Jr., Stacy Boles, and Vic

10, 2013) With less than a week before the Ninth edition
of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series begins,
promoter Ray Cook has announced the race format and contingency/series
sponsors for this year’s tour.
This year’s format will be different from any other season.
The Performance Rod & Custom Dash has been added to this year’s
lineup. There will be a full show of Practice, FK Rod Ends Qualifying
($100 Fast Time) and the Performance Rod & Custom Dash ($100
to win) which will showcase the Top-four qualifiers each night.
The drivers will draw for their starting spots for the PRC Dash
(4 laps) then how they finish the Dash will determine the first
two rows of the Feature lineup. There will also be Last Chance
Heats to set the field each night plus two series provisional
for the highest drivers in points starting with the second series
points race. The Feature and Dash will pay points each night.
An addition for the perfect attendance drivers this year, starting
after the fourth event, the top-5 drivers with perfect attendance
will be guaranteed to leave the track at each event with a minimum
of $600 per race. The $3,500 to win events pay $450 to start while
the $5,300 to win events pay $530 to start.

seems to fit the last two weeks in July. In a little over a month,
the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series will hit the
Southeast dirt tracks as the Ninth edition of the Ray Cook-promoted

Fresh off a highly successful Spring Nationals Tour, Promoter
Ray Cook and crew are ready to get back at it with the second
tour of the season. In Spring Nationals competition, there were
nine events held of the ten scheduled. One event was halted because
of weather. Nine different winners graced victory lane during
the Spring tour with Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN in the D&R
Motorsports MasterSbilt Race Car taking the series championship
over Knoxville, TN driver Billy Ogle Jr. in the Blount Motorsports
Rocket Chassis. Completing the top-five in series points included
David Payne of Murphy, NC, Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN and Michael
Chilton of Salvisa, KY. There were 164 different drivers who entered
