Tri-County Race Track
Forced to Shuffle Schedule; Postpones North Carolina State Championship
(November
16, 2020) Promoter Ray Cook announced today that he is
regrettably forced to postpone the upcoming 'North Carolina State
Championship' race that was scheduled for Tri-County Race Track
on Friday, November 20. The $4,000 to win Super Late Model contest
was scheduled to be the penultimate event on the 2020 Schaeffer's
Oil Fall Nationals Series tour, but will now be postponed until
Friday, March 19 to be a part of the 2021 Schaeffer's Oil Spring
Nationals Series. The annual 'Billy Clanton Classic' at Senoia
Raceway in Senoia, Georgia will now be the lone remaining race
and final show for the Fall Nationals tour in 2020, as a $10,000
top prize will be on the line in the Peach State this Saturday,
November 21.
"I am sorry to have to announce the postponement of this
race, especially after we just publicized it a few weeks ago,"
quoted Cook today via telephone. "A couple members of our
family have been exposed to the coronavirus and will still be
in quarantine. Thankfully, no one has any serious symptoms and
everyone is doing fine. However, this will cause us to be short
staffed and we do not have everyone in place to be able to host
the event." |

Muddy Conditions and
Cool Temperatures Force Wythe Raceway Fall Nationals Cancelation
(October
30, 2020) Wythe Raceway officials notified Schaeffer's
Oil Fall Nationals Series promoter Ray Cook earlier this morning
that they unfortunately had no choice but to cancel this Saturday's
$10,000 to win 'Halloween Spooktacular.' Heavy rains for the past
two days have saturated the infield pit area at the Rural Retreat,
Virginia speedplant and coupled with cool temperatures, it is
unlikely that the pit area dries out until next week. The October
31 event, which was scheduled to be the Fall Nationals fourth
show of the 2020 season, has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
However, track promoter Fred Brown and Cook are pleased to announce
that Wythe Raceway will be on the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals
schedule, as a similar $10,000 to win contest is booked for Friday,
April 2!
While the Wythe event was unfortunately lost, a second Schaeffer's
Oil Fall Nationals Series date at Tri-County Race Track has been
added to the schedule for Friday, November 20. Dubbed the 'North
Carolina State Championship,' track promoter Ray Cook will put
a $4,000 top prize on the line for the Super Late Models at his
Brasstown, North Carolina facility. The November 20 event will
be the weekend lid lifter for the Fall Nationals drivers before
the series moves to Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia on Saturday,
November 21 for the rain-postponed 'Billy Clanton Classic.' More
information concerning this big doubleheader weekend will be released
in the upcoming weeks. |

22, 2020) "Big Sexy" Brandon Overton continued
his stellar 2020 racing season tonight by recording his second
straight FK Rod Ends 'Tarheel 50' title at Ray Cook's Tri-County

position - by virtue of a dash victory - but ran in the second
spot during the first 44 circuits of the contest. Hounding race-long
pacesetter Shane Clanton in and out of lapped traffic, Brandon
finally found his opportunity to squeeze by Clanton's #25 machine
coming off of turn four to lead lap 45. From there, the Evans,
Georgia standout kept his car out front and picked up the $10,053
windfall by besting fellow Georgian Shane Clanton, Dale McDowell,

Oil Iron-Man Championship Series, Donald clicked off the fastest
lap overall during the qualifying session with a time of 11.653

Aaron Guinn, defending race winner Dakotah Knuckles, and Pierce
McCarter, who battled back from a mid-race tangle to grab the

Fall Nationals Series
to Adopt World of Outlaws Late Model Series Rulebook for 2020
Season
(January 7, 2020) In an effort to help unify
body rules and what has become known as the droop rule, series
promoter Ray Cook is pleased to announce today that all three
of his series - the Southern Nationals Series, the Spring Nationals
Series, and the Fall Nationals Series - will adopt and follow
the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series rulebook
in 2020. While the newly announced World Racing Group droop rule
varies slightly from the rule Ray and his tech officials have
enforced in recent years, it is important for everyone to work
together in an effort to make Super Late Model racing safer, while
enforcing a unified set of rules. You can view the rulebook files
on the RULES page
of the website!
